Special 2010 Dues Notice - - Please Read

Everyone should have received a reminder their 2010 dues are due.

• If you wish to renewed and have not paid, please read this important notice.
• If you are renewing and have not paid, please read and take initiative to renew.
• If you have paid, Thank You. If the following applies, take advantage.

Last year we passed an important motion regarding 2010 dues wavier.

This important membership benefit just didn't come to mind when the first notice for the 2010 Dues Reminder was released.

MOTION: A motion was made in recognition of those who are members and who may be out of work due to the current economic situation, I propose: a) For any member that has lost their job in 2008 or 2009 that their dues be waived until the year following re-employment; b) if the dues have been paid for the current year, that they be refunded for the entire year of 2009; that the records be marked Paid in Full 2009, (and next year if unemployment continues into 2010) and that no distinction be made between these members.

Motion passed.

Qualification seems straight forward and simple.

1. a current member of MARCA;

2. who is currently unemployed during the membership renewal period. (Retirement is not included).

We did this in "good faith" to permit members experiencing an unemployment type of financial hardship to remain active MARCA members. At the time we didn't define how a member requests this waver benefit, nor what proof of unemployment, or minimum duration of unemployment qualified; and we didn't post it anywhere other than the minutes. (BTW all members have a responsibility to read the minutes).

So here is the process, hopefully it is simple enough.

With confidentially,

Any qualified member may approach any board member to request the dues wavier for 2010;

(Member may approach the Treasurer directly).

That board member will pass the wavier directly to the treasurer.

Proof of unemployment is the member's "word".

The Treasurer will then record the member’s 2010 Dues Paid. (The same recording as with all members)

The incident will be confidential with those directly involved in this process.
